The Ugut Museum was opened on June 23, 1979, as a folk museum. The founder and the first director of the museum is Pyotr Semenovich Bakhlykov (1932-1999) - Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation" (1990), Honored Worker of Culture of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (1995), «Honorary Citizen of the Surgut district» (1999). Today, the museum's collections number about 6,500 items. The museum has the most complete collection of cultural and everyday objects of the Yugan Khanty. To date, the museum has three stationary exhibitions «Artist's Workshop, «The world around us: the wildlife of Yugan» and «People of the Yugan River», in the following sections: -Paleontology of Yugan; -Life of the Yugan Khanty; - The worldview of the Yugan Khanty; -Trade routes; -Christianization of Yugan
