Torum Maa, Samarovsky Chugas and Archeopark: hiking in nature in Khanty-Mansiysk
This route is suitable for tourists who want to see Khanty-Mansiysk in one day not only as a city, but also as a place where the taiga literally enters the urban environment. The program includes an open-air museum "Torum Maa", a walk along the trails of the Samarovsky Chugas Nature Park and an Archeopark with mammoths at the foot of the Samarovsky Remnant.
The basic scenario takes about 5-6 hours and includes about 1.5 hours of walking along a forest trail, walking through the museum grounds and the Archeopark, and one short city crossing.
Visit to the Torum Maa Open-air Museum
The starting point of the route. Address: 1 Sobyanin St.".
Start at the outdoor exhibition at 1 Sobyanin Street. In summer, the museum is open daily from 11:00 to 19:00, and the ticket office is open until 18:30. An entrance ticket for an adult costs 150 rubles, and admission is free for visitors under the age of 18. The territory features reconstructions of the traditional life of the Ob Ugrians, including the Khanty River Agan summer camp and the Northern Mansi winter settlement.
Immediately take into account the terrain: from the stop "Agricultural machinery" to the museum is about 350 m, there is an ascent on the approach, and decking and stairs lead to the exhibition.
Currently, access to the trail directly from the territory of the museum "Torum Maa" is limited. After visiting the museum, walk about 150-200 meters to the next street — from there you can continue walking along Samarovsky Chugas.
The desired entry point to the trail is marked on the map.
Passage through the Samarovsky Chugas Nature Park
The intermediate point of the route.
From the museum area, go out to the Kholodny Log and then navigate to the official site "Kholodny Log - Missne Hotel". The estimated time of passage is 1.5 hours. The nature park has a network of ecological trails, observation decks, and recreation areas, so before leaving, save the official map to your phone and follow the markings on the ground.
The trail passes through a hilly forest area. After the rain, decking, roots and soil can be slippery, so closed sneakers or trekking shoes with tenacious soles are needed here. It is worth putting 0.5-1 liters of water per person, a small snack, a windbreaker or raincoat and a repellent in a backpack.
The stop at "Missee"
is the final point of the first segment. Address: 54 Gagarina St.
Transfer to the Archeopark
The end point of the route. Address: 29 Detour street
For the basic route from Misne to the Archeopark, it is more reasonable to take a taxi: This way you won't have to add a crossing along city roads to a forest walk. The Archeopark is located at 29 Detour Street; admission is free. The 3.5-hectare complex unites the Samarovsky Remnant, the Samarov Gorodok archaeological monument and the sculpture park of Pleistocene animals and Paleolithic people. A quiet examination should take 45-60 minutes.

Tips
If you want to walk completely between Torum Maa and the Archeopark without leaving the forest
This option also exists, but it is no longer an entry-level walk. The length of the Torum Maa Museum - Archeopark section is 3.5 km, with an estimated travel time of about 3 hours. The terrain is heterogeneous throughout, with significant sudden elevation changes.
If you do decide, check the condition and accessibility of the trail in the nature park in advance, save the map, reserve light time and do not rely on the urban format of the walk.
When to go and what to change in winter
The optimal period for this scenario is June–September. The administration of Torum Maa informs that from mid-April to June 1, it is impossible to receive visitors to the outdoor exhibition due to snowmelt and drying of the territory.
In winter, the museum is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, and the Archeopark remains an interesting open point of the route. It is better to reduce the forest area, taking into account snow, ice, the condition of the stairs and the length of daylight. Before going out, check the weather and the condition of the routes; shoes with non-slip soles are mandatory.
Rules and security
Samarovsky Chugas is a specially protected natural area. On the route, stay on equipped and marked trails, do not build campfires outside specially designated areas and do not damage vegetation. It is better to charge your phone in advance, and keep the official trail layout offline: in the forest, it is more important to navigate by markings and a map than to try to shorten the path through side paths.
In this format, the route shows three different layers of Khanty-Mansiysk in one day: the living taiga, the culture of Khanty and Mansi represented by the museum, and the history of the territory from ancient landscapes to archaeological sites. At the same time, the main forest walk remains accessible to a person with normal physical fitness.
