Khanty-Mansiysk
Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ
Another business card of the district capital is the temple complex "in the name of the Resurrection of Christ", which is located on one of the seven hills in the Central part of the city. Its author is Nikolai Kazakov, honored architect of Russia and a native of Novosibirsk.
The majestic white building is the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ. The main place in the complex. The five Golden domes symbolize Jesus Christ and the four evangelists. There is a bell tower not far from the main building. Its uniqueness is that it is made according to all the traditions of the 19th century.
The interior of the Cathedral also meets all the canons and impresses with its splendor. The altar is separated by an iconostasis with three gates. Above the Royal gate, you can see the icon of the Last supper. Just above is a cross that completes the composition. The North aisle of the Church was consecrated in honor of all the Saints who shone in the land of Siberia. South – in honor of Alexander Nevsky. This is a functioning Church where the sacraments are regularly performed and services are held. It is in this Cathedral that the main Ministry of the administrator of the Khanty-Mansi diocese, Bishop Pavel of Khanty – Mansi and Surgut, takes place.
Next to the building of the Cathedral is another small Church, consecrated in honor of Grand Duke Vladimir, and an Orthodox gymnasium.
The Park of Slavic writing and culture is also an integral part of the temple complex. The Park has small sculptural forms on the theme of the ten biblical commandments, as well as various monuments: a monument to saints Cyril and Methodius, metropolitans Philotheus of Leshchinsky and John of Tobolsk.
This is a unique place in Khanty-Mansiysk, where everything else offers a beautiful view of the city center.
