Museum and Cultural Center

On September 1, 2000, a Museum and cultural center was opened in Nyagan. The basis of the museum funds were the finds in the settlement of the first inhabitants of this land-the settlement and burial complex «Emder». The exhibits were deposited in the museum by S. F. Koshkarov and A. P. Zykov, employees of the Institute of History and Archeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and NPMP «Volot». These are items that can tell a lot about the life of the ancient people who lived in the studied territory. Residents of the city also helped in collecting exhibits. thanks to the yard rounds and the appeal to the population, the museum was replenished with unique items. Today, the museum's collection includes more than 12,000 items, represented in 15 collections on archeology, paleontology, and ethnography. Among other things, objects that characterize different epochs of the city's history are extensively presented. And so that the excursions are not boring, the staff creates exciting and dynamic programs and educational game quests. Also, the museum staff organizes field trips around the city to explore the architectural, historical and cultural attractions of Nyagan, as well as nearby cities.
