Kurtova Polyana tract

Kurtova Polyana is a tract near the village of Kondinskoye (until 1961, the village of Nakhrachi). The clearing is located among a tall pine forest, has a regular round shape and nothing grows on it except rava. Old-timers endow this tract with magical properties, and they say that once the shaman Prince Nakhrach Evplaev himself could have lived here. There is also a theory, to some extent confirming the connection with the shaman, that the sacred places of Mansi were really located in a circular space (a circle is a sacred image), after getting rid of all vegetation and lining this place with birch bark, which, in turn, according to the beliefs of the northern peoples, could protect from evil spirits. This theory partially explains the lack of vegetation on the Kurtova Polyana tract. Kurtova Polyana today is a favorite place of recreation and mass festivities of residents and guests of Kondinskoe. The picturesque place among the pines resembles the Italian Colosseum theater, and the sounds of noisy pines soothingly accompany every visitor to this unique place, visiting which once, he will remember forever.
