Museum of Local Lore

The Local History Museum of the city was established on 25.02.1994, but opened its doors to visitors in December 1994. The museum's fund consists of more than 6800 items. The foundation is based on ethnographic, historical, archaeological, taxidermic, artistic, numismatic collections, collections of photographs and documents. The museum has two exhibition halls of ethnography, a hall of the nature of the region, an exhibition hall. The expositions on ethnography present household items, beaded jewelry, national clothing, models of the homes of the Khanty people, hunting and fishing tools, vehicles. The history of the formation of the city can be traced by photographs stored in the museum's collections. This is the largest collection. She is the only witness to the radical change of the city, and the expositions are designed to increase knowledge not only through the objects of everyday life, but also through the destinies of people. The centuries-old history of the Pokachevo land is represented by a collection of archeology: fragments of ceramic tableware, metal products, women's and men's jewelry made of bronze, leather products dating from the III millennium BC to modern times. The Nature Hall of Ugra enjoys the greatest success among visitors. He is like a small piece of the forest, where funny bear and bear cub, a cunning fox and a formidable wolf look at you with lively eyes. What a forest without birds! Here you can get acquainted with the feathered world of the region: wading birds, wild game, predatory and herbivorous birds. The exhibition hall will present to visitors exhibitions of local artists and masters of decorative and applied art, traveling exhibitions of artists of the district, exhibitions from the collections of museums of the cities of Ugra. The exhibition hall is located on the third floor of the Children's Art School. On May 9, 1995, an Alley of Veterans was planted next to the museum, which was planted by veterans of the Great Patriotic War themselves. 30 larches were planted in the alley. In 2017, a memorial sign "Routes of A.A. Dunin-Gorkavich" was installed at the entrance to the museum. Similar structures are installed in places where the famous researcher once lived and worked. The monuments indicate the date of the scientist's stay and an excerpt describing his works. A.A. Dunin-Gorkavich is a Russian researcher, forester, local historian. Since 2018, a Tourist Information Center has been operating on the basis of the Museum of Local Lore, which provides an opportunity for guests of the city to get acquainted with its history and culture.
