The Oktyabrsky Museum of Local Lore was opened to the public on July 4, 1992, on the day of the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the Oktyabrsky district. The idea of creating a museum was implemented by famous local historians of the district: S. N. Nartymov, G. N. Timofeev, T. V. Diodorova, G. N. Lazarev. The founder and the first director of the museum, G. I. Makarova, supervised all the preparatory work. Russian Russian Museum was created as a comprehensive, multidisciplinary museum with 6 areas of activity: archeology, history before joining the Russian state, the history of the region as part of the Russian centralized state, the history of the region in the Soviet period, ethnography, nature. The ethnographic collection of the indigenous peoples of the region – Khanty and Mansi, as well as Russian settlers who came here in the XVI–XVII centuries, is of interest. The museum has 9 permanent exhibitions: "Russian life", "Life of the Khanty peoples", "Orthodoxy", "Animal world", etc. And also 5 temporary ones. The stands and expositions contain short texts that help visitors learn about the main milestones of history on their own. To date, the museum collection includes more than 10 collections: a collection of written documents, a collection of archeology, a collection of numismatics, a collection of paintings, etc. The museum staff offers visitors various master classes: "Akan Doll", "Krupenichka Doll", "Cranberry Doll". There is also a large selection of souvenirs.
