The museum first opened its doors to visitors in 1991. On the territory of the museum there is a ratn-hot, yunnty khar with a ground pyramid-shaped dwelling, a summer dwelling deepened into the ground and a winter one of the same. The playground is equipped for archery, "Kusyin", Kula juh, for sports competitions — jumping over sleds, throwing tynzyan on the chorei. On the site of the "Camp of reindeer herders-nomads" two chums were erected, a summer and winter fur, a corral — a corral for deer, a house for deer, sleds of various types. The site "The camp of a fisherman-hunter leading a semi—sedentary lifestyle" is equipped with a winter hut, three warehouses, a hearth, a bread oven - nyan kor, a canopy for storing and drying things. And on the hunter and fisherman's trail there are traps for game, fur-bearing animals, fish, and a temporary shelter for a fisherman. Here you can see both ancient and modern fishing gear, vehicles. The entrance to the museum is equipped like a fortified settlement, with a fence made of poles around the perimeter. The idea of creating the Kazym Ethnographic Museum-Park has existed since the 1980s. Kasum, as Kazym sounds in the Khanty language, is an interesting center of regeneration of the cultural traditions of the peoples: Khanty, Zyryan, forest Nenets. The ancient original culture of the northern peoples underwent significant changes by the end of the XX century. The processes of urbanization of the world have had a devastating impact on the traditional way of life, spiritual and linguistic culture, folklore. As a result of long-term cohabitation of ethnic groups, the assimilation of the culture of small communities with the culture of other peoples is observed. The knowledge of old-timers, carriers of traditional folklore, the skills of master mentors, keepers of ancient applied crafts and crafts are inexorably disappearing into the past. All this requires support and competent fixation.
