The Surgut Speaks Exhibition

29 October 2026 - 30 April 2027

The starting point in the history of radio communications in Russia is 1895. This event is associated with the Russian physicist Alexander Stepanovich Popov, who designed the world's first radio receiver capable of distinguishing signals by duration.

In Western Siberia and Surgut itself, radio communication appeared at the beginning of the 20th century. This exhibition is dedicated to the history of the development of this type of communication in our city. She will reveal the specifics of the radio hub in Surgut and introduce how radio communications were used in geological expeditions of the Tyumen North. The exhibition presents a model of A.S. Popov's first radio receiver, a radio station from the 50s and 60s of the 20th century, and the PR-4-P radio receiver, which arrived with the first landing party of geologists in Surgut.
