Monument to the Soldier-liberator

135-this is how many names of Megion residents are immortalized in the memorial complex to the Soldier-liberator. They were placed on three steles that are located near the figures of a soldier with a child. What feat did these people perform? Someone participated in the great Patriotic war, and then built this city from scratch and played a key role in the development of deposits near Megion. Others did not live to see a bright future. They laid down their heads on the battlefield. The next group – those who defended the country during the first Chechen campaign, and at the time of leaving for the war, the last time they saw their native city. The monument and three stelae were the first to appear in the memorial complex in 1985. Their opening was timed to the 40th anniversary of the Victory in the second world war. Then the composition was supplemented with guns: an anti-tank gun ZIS-2 and 152-mm howitzer. This happened in 1994 and 1998, respectively. Not far away you can see another stele made of black granite. The inscription on it reads «to the border Guards of Megion of all generations». A border post is symbolically located next to it. These additions appeared here in 2019 at the behest of the Megion border guards community. They independently raised funds and equipped a place of memory. The memorial complex to the Soldier-liberator is filled with a lot of people on may 9 and June 22, as well as on the day of the border guard. Residents of Megion from young to old come here to pay tribute to the defenders of the Motherland.
