The ancient settlement of «High mountain»

The High mountain settlement is a sacred place and the oldest archaeological monument in the Kondinsky district. It is also the only one that has preserved its original appearance. High mountain is not afraid of centuries – throughout this time, trees grow exclusively around, but its territory remains clear of the forest. Now the mountain – one of the exhibits Uchinskaya historical-ethnographic Museum. A unique place one and a half kilometers southwest of the village of Polovinka on the Bank of the Uchinya river was discovered in 1703 by the scientist Semyon Remezov. The find was dated to the XIII-XIV century. In the" Drawing book " the historian recorded: «the place is scree, lived knyazets». From this point on, it is believed that the town of the local ruler was previously located on an area of 400 m2. Later, other scientists conducted a number of archaeological studies and confirmed that the settlement really existed in the early iron age, in the second half of the first Millennium ad. The indigenous people consider this place a sanctuary and attach sacred significance to it. Therefore, for many years people come here to replenish the source of life. Of course, no Holy place is complete without legends and legends. They are told about by the Museum staff during excursions.
