Sherkalsky Ethnographic Museum-branch

The oldest museum in the district is located in the village of Sherkaly. It was opened on December 28, 1982. The museum's expositions reflect the life and culture of the peoples of the Middle Ob Khanty, who lived in the district in the 1930s and 1940s. The central exhibition «Main occupations and crafts» consists of an ethnographic collection that was brought from the Khanty village of Lokhtotkurt. Items made at the beginning of the last century can be used to identify traditional occupations of indigenous men. The exposition based on the hut creates a way of life of the Khanty peoples living in the XX century. Here you can get acquainted in detail with household items, kitchen utensils that were used by national families in the 30-40s of the last century. A special role in the museum is played by the «holy corner», where an old icon is located, the face of which can not be seen. Among the rare and most interesting exhibits, you can see the national musical instrument narkas-yuh, clothes with ornaments and a bunch of powerful bear claws. Expositions that are constantly active in the museum: «Toys of children of the peoples of the North», «Basic occupations and crafts», «Interior of the hut of the Middle Ob Khanty», «Ancient history of the village». The museum staff presents theatrical performances based on the fairy tales of the Khanty peoples «Northern Tales». the museum itself is located in a small building in the center of the village. The territory is equipped with ethnic exhibit: storage shed, boat «budarka» the boat «kaldinka», sled. The museum staff also organizes walking tours of the village of Sherkaly to explore local attractions and cultural heritage sites.
