The Monument Of Farman Salmanov
One of the three monuments in the district dedicated to the outstanding Soviet and Russian geologist Farman Salmanov is installed in the village of Gornopravdinsk, Khanty-Mansiysk district.
The location was chosen for a reason. Farman Salmanov is considered to be the founder of this settlement, since it originated around the location of the Pravda geological exploration expedition.
Another interesting fact about this monument is that its author is Alexander Rukavishnikov, the same sculptor who made the monuments to Sholokhov, Dostoevsky and Vysotsky. According to the author's idea, Salmanov seems to be walking through the harsh taiga, and after him there are oil rigs and buildings depicted in the composition inside the open book.
Farman Salmanov is the largest expert in the field of geology, one of the world's most famous scientists and geologists. He participated in the discovery of giant oil and gas fields in the world – more than 150 in total. Under his leadership, the maximum volumes of drilling operations and oil and gas growth were achieved. He was not even 30 years old when the first oil fountain began to flow in Western Siberia. Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, founder of the Tyumen School of Geology, one of the leading organizers of geological exploration in Siberia.
Farman Salmanov worked in Western Siberia for 40 years. In jest, he was always called «Russian Azerbaijani», which is proud of in two countries at once.
