Memorial to the "Internationalist Soldiers"

The memorial was opened on May 9, 1996. It is made in the form of four columns united by steel arches. A bell is fixed under the dome formed by arches. On the columns there are memorial plaques on which the names of thirty-eight Nizhnevartovsk soldiers who died in local wars in Afghanistan and the North Caucasus are engraved. The base of the monument is gray granite, the columns are made of black labradorite, the domed arches are made of steel, the bell is cast in bronze. The monument symbolizes the chapel: similar ones were placed on the graves of martyrs, to which the fallen soldiers were also counted. The columns symbolize the steadfastness of the soldiers, and the bell represents the eternal memory of the dead. The initiative to build the monument belonged to veterans of local wars. The customer was the administration of the city of Nizhnevartovsk and the public association "Red Star". The construction of the monument was carried out by the closed joint-stock company "Arsiti" and the Hungarian company "General". The Italian firm "Tegola-Canadese" provided charitable assistance in the supply of granite and labradorite for the cladding of the monument. The bell was ordered in Moscow, the domed arches were made by CBPO-4 (Central Production Service Base).
