Bust of Nikolai Melik-Karamov

In 1970, the team of the famous drilling master Nikolai Borisovich Melik-Karamov drilled 21 exploration wells, which confirmed the industrial oil reserves at the Pokachevsky field. In 1978, the industrial development of the Pokachevsky deposit and the construction of a shift settlement began. In the year of the 25th anniversary of Pokachev, a bust of the discoverer of Pokachev oil, Nikolai Melik-Karamov, was installed in the Taiga Park. The authors of the sculpture were the team of the Kaslinsky art casting plant of the city of Chelyabinsk. The solemn opening of the bust was attended by the Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova, the president of the LUKOIL oil company Vagit Alekperov and the daughters of the famous oilman Tatiana Melik-Karamova and Natalia Dracheva.
