Monument «Combat anti-tank 45 mm gun»

To mark the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the great Patriotic war, another object was installed in the Victory Square in Nefteyugansk – a 45-millimeter cannon. This is one of the most recognizable weapons of the second world war. It is located near the monument to the «Warrior-liberator». The installed gun is assembled bit by bit from parts and parts that were found by search teams in the vicinity of Veliky Novgorod. As you know, since August 1941 there were fierce battles. From the very beginning of the war, this model of gun was the main one in the armament of Soviet units. These guns accompanied the infantry with fire and wheels, smashed Pillboxes and Bunkers, and were the basis of the anti-tank artillery of Soviet soldiers. Until the middle of the war, the so-called «sorokopyatka» in number occupied almost half of all the guns that were in service with Soviet anti-tank units. During the battle of Stalingrad, more than 40% of the 45-mm anti-tank guns were in service. Motorized rifle, rifle, cavalry, mountain rifle formations and red army units used this weapon. It should be noted that the restoration and transportation of the gun installed for the victory anniversary was carried out by the city's enterprises and search teams. The 45 mm anti-tank gun became one of the symbols of the great Victory.
