State nature reserve «The Yugansk»
The area of the Yugansky state nature reserve is about 648,636 hectares! 94,000 of them are specially protected areas that are closed to the public. However, despite this, the Yugansky nature reserve is worth a visit. After all, this is one of the rare places with a rich flora and fauna that has not been affected by human activity.
The journey starts from the settlement of Ugut. Here you can stay overnight and relax in a small hotel, if you decide to stay a little longer. You can only get to the territory of the reserve itself if you are accompanied by employees, and transport will depend on the time of year you choose.
But what you will see will amaze you. Almost 2/3 of the reserve is covered with forests, the rest is swamps and swampy forests, as well as a large number of lakes. The forests here consist of birch, aspen, Siberian spruce and fir, pine and cedar.
There are almost 276 species of birds in the reserve and even red-listed ones are registered: white-tailed eagle, Golden eagle, black stork. 40 species of mammals were also observed: reindeer, elk, bear, Fox, wolf, squirrel, hare, Arctic Fox, lynx, wild boar, Wolverine, weasel and many others.
Environmental education events are often held on and off the territory, and employees are engaged in scientific, research and environmental activities.
300 kilometers from Surgut-and you will find yourself in a unique place, untouched by civilization. It was created relatively recently – in 1982. The goal is to preserve and protect the West Siberian flora and fauna.
