Monument to Defenders of the Fatherland
Among the Pokachevites, the memory of significant events in the history of Russia is associated with the Monument to the Defenders of the Fatherland, at the foot of which flowers are traditionally laid. The events dedicated to the Victory Day are held here.
The monument was made at the Kasli Art Casting plant. The main figure in the composition of the monument is a young soldier clutching a machine gun in his hand. It stands against the background of granite slabs, symbolizing the banner canvases. Bas-reliefs of the highest military awards are located on the granite canvas. On the left side of the composition are carved the words "Valor. Honour. Glory", on the right – "History. Pride. Memory". The monument to the Defenders of the Fatherland continues with Victory Park with a demonstration alley of military equipment, where the first large-scale supersonic front-line bomber Yak-28 in the USSR acts as a striking element. In the evening, the illumination creates the effect that the plane is hovering in the air and sends signals to ground services about its presence in the sky.
