Anatoly Lebed is a legend of the special forces, who served in Afghanistan (where he started as an Mi-8 flight mechanic) and Chechnya, and was a three-time recipient of the Order of the Red Star. he became an example of indomitable spirit for every paratrooper. Vasily Margelov is a man whom fighters lovingly call the father of the Airborne Forces. It was this commander who turned the landing force into the elite of the Armed Forces, having developed the concept of their strategic use. He ensured that the vest became part of the uniform, replacing the color of the stripes with sky blue as the main symbol of belonging to the sky. Every year on August 2, internationalist soldiers and paratroopers gather here, and solemn flower-laying ceremonies are held. The project of perpetuating memory became possible thanks to veterans, the "United Russia" party, deputy O.Zatsepin and parliamentarian Y. Kholmansky.
