«Geologic» Station

What is interesting about the modern station building, you may ask? The answer is history. This building wasn't always here. It appeared only in 2002. And in 1960, in its place there was only a wooden house, which was heated by a conventional stove and could accommodate only 25 people. For 20 years, it served the residents of Yugorsk as a waiting room. ESS station-that was the name of the place then. In 1981, the old building was replaced with a new, more comfortable one. It took 5 years to build and could accommodate up to 100 people at a time. And the station is located near a strategically important section of the railway. This route from the Urals to the Ob basin made it possible to develop oil, gas and timber reserves near Yugorsk. Thanks to this road, Yugorsk grew and developed. In 1966, the ESS station received a new name – Geological. The reason was the transfer of the Ous-Kartopya road section from the Department of the Ministry of defense to the Ministry of Railways.
