Yugorsk
The sculpture «Keeper of Ugra»
«Ugra Bereginya» - the name of this sculpture contains all the gratitude of many generations of Ugra residents to their land. For the wealth, beauty and opportunity to live happily in a harsh but hospitable region that has become home to a large number of specialists from the «big» land, who helped to reveal the true potential of Siberia.
An owl and a cedar branch-that's what the «Yugorskaya Bereginya» holds in its hands. The owl is a well-known symbol of wisdom, and the cedar branch symbolizes the boundless richness of Northern nature. Bereginya herself is depicted as a slender woman in national dress. And on both sides of the pedestal are poems by Svetlana Tregubova and Vyacheslav Smolensky-Yugra poets.
By the way, the composition was made and installed exclusively on funds collected by citizens and sponsors. And «Yugorskaya Bereginya» became the first and main decoration of the Yubileyny square – their opening took place on the same day – September 1, 2012. The name of the square was also chosen by citizens. It was decided to start from the historical name of the previously located street – Yubileynaya.
Today, Yubileyny square and Ugra Bereginya square are among the most popular attractions in the city.
