A monument to the discoverers of West Siberian oil was erected on the Urai Square of the same name in 1977. It is dedicated to the heroic work of the first oilmen who developed deposits in Ugra. The opening of the memorial took place in September and was timed to coincide with the celebration of the Day of Oil and Gas Industry Workers.
