The sculpture "Black Fox»

At the entrance to the historical and cultural center "Old Surgut" there is a monument to the city's coat of arms symbol-the Black Fox. The sculpture was created based on the myth of the noble sky rider, who in the form of a Fox descended from heaven to the inhabitants of Surgut land and became its patron. By the way, initially reincarnated as a Fox rider was red, and it acquired its black color after a terrible fire. The project of the monument to the Black Fox with a length of 2.4 meters was developed by Tobolsk sculptor-bone cutter Minsalim Temirgazeev. The bronze monument is an almost exact copy of the animal depicted on the city's coat of arms. The monument was cast in St. Petersburg, and it was delivered to Surgut the day before the official opening. The whole process – from idea to implementation-took only a month. So in June 2006, the city was decorated with a new sculpture. Since that day, the black Fox monument remains one of the main attractions of the city.
