Surgut
Memorial of Glory
The memorial complex of Glory is located on Gagarin Street in the Central district of Surgut. It is impossible to miss it, the T-54 tank installed at the entrance will serve as an identification sign for you.
The memorial complex itself is a stele, on both sides of which there are monuments to "Fighters for Soviet Power" and "Surgut residents who fell on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War." These are 16 plates on which the names of more than a thousand dead during two large-scale wars are engraved. An eternal flame has been burning here in memory of them since 1975.
In 1995, a chapel was built next to the memorial, as a memorial sign of the Holy Trinity Church of Surgut - it was one of the first stone buildings in the city. And in 2004, during the reconstruction, two more busts were added here – to the Heroes of the Soviet Union Ivan Vasilyevich Korolkov and Tulebey Azhimov.
The Memorial of Glory is one of the places that is definitely worth visiting in Surgut.
