Monument to the founders of the city

In 2002, a monument to the founders of the city was erected on Surgut's 400th anniversary square. This composition has become one of the main attractions of Surgut. Four bronze figures united in a single impulse: Prince Fyodor Boryatinsky, voivode Vladimir Onichkov, a Cossack carpenter and an unnamed priest. Boryatinsky and Onichkov arrived in Western Siberia by royal decree to found Surgut. The prince symbolizes royal patronage, the governor - military force, the Cossack represents the first builders of the city, and the priest - the spiritual principle. It took about 40 tons of bronze to make the monument. It is based on a capsule with a message to posterity. The monument to the founders of the city is not just a sculpture, it is a symbol of Surgut's history and culture, which inspires citizens and visitors to explore its past.
