Monument to the gasman

If walking through Surgut you see a large figure of a man standing near a ball valve, you should know – this is a monument to the gas worker. It is located on the territory of the administrative building of Gazprom transgaz Surgut LLC and is intended to glorify the work of gas industry workers in the district. When developing the project, the main goal was to show how the specialists of such enterprises work. Therefore, it is based on the collective image of a gas worker. A man in uniform stands on the crane platform of the main gas pipeline and holds on to the crane. At the same time, the crane itself and the pipe fragment have a natural scale. Cast iron was chosen as the material. And the impressive size-about five meters in height-makes the sculpture noticeable in the overall picture of the city. The author of the project is Valery Chaly, a member of the Union of artists of Russia and a master of decorative and applied arts. The statue itself was designed by Yaroslav Barkov, a sculptor from Saint Petersburg. The Grand opening of the monument took place in September 2017 on the eve of the day of oil and gas industry workers.
