Monument to internationalist soldiers

A monument that contains all the people's pain and eternal memory of those who defended the country in hot spots. We are talking about a memorial dedicated to international soldiers. It is located in the old-Timers square of Surgut on Energetikov street. The monument appeared here on October 3, 1998. The Central place in the composition is occupied by the figure of a soldier with a machine gun in his hand, who is trying to get up, despite being seriously wounded. Behind it, a large white block is the symbol of the mountain. After all, it was in this area that our countrymen died in Afghanistan and other hot spots. Their names are written on marble boards, which are located in a semicircle around the figure of the fighter. The monument is buried in flowers almost all year round, because everyone who cares about it comes here to pay their respects. The initiative to create such a monument belongs to members of the public organization of veterans of military operations in Afghanistan "Salang". But the authors of the project are sculptor P. Lyubimov, artist K. Saprichan, architects N. Mazurenko and V. Unzhakov. It is noteworthy that the monument was created with funds donated by businesses and citizens. To this day, fellow soldiers, as well as concerned residents of Surgut independently maintain the monument in a presentable form.
