The sculptural composition «The wisdom of the ages»

Three dry poplar trunks - in a sculptural composition! This idea once came to the staff of the Museum of history and Ethnography of Yugorsk. In an interesting way, it was decided to decorate the house territory of the Museum instead of cutting down trees. The initiative of the Museum staff was supported with pleasure by the master of artistic wood carving Vladimir Degtyarev. To support the Museum theme, he put a deep meaning into the sculpture and turned dead trees into idols. Forest spirits, on the other they call "menque", usually guarding the sanctuary and have a sacred significance. An additional figure of a shaman was placed in front of the idols, since this person in the culture of indigenous peoples not only has the right to call out to the spirits, but also sees the fate of all living on earth. The sculpture is completed by a Raven and an owl, symbolizing female and male ancestors. As well as the sun and moon, meaning the passage of time. Thus, ordinary trees turned out to be a whole work of art, which was given the appropriate name «Wisdom of the ages». And the opening was timed to the anniversary of Yugorsk-55 years since its formation.
