The building of the church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God «Joy to All Who Mourn»

In the small village of Zenkovo with a population of only 50 people, which is located near Shapsha, there is a Church in the name of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos «Joy to All who Mourn». This is one of the few churches belonging to wooden buildings of the late XIX-early XX centuries on the territory of the Khanty-Mansiysk district. The building is a striking example of the late stage of wooden architecture in Western Siberia of the past century. The church in the village was built in 1908. It is located on the picturesque gently sloping bank of the Ob River. What it was before, unfortunately, is unknown. The description has not survived to this day. only one thing is known – the church has stood on this site since its construction. And this is its historical value. otherwise, only the lower part, some elements of decoration and decoration are preserved in the building. During the hard times, services in the church were banned and, according to local residents, the domes were removed in 1938. by the efforts of concerned residents of the village and the orthodox community, the church building began to be restored after 2010. In 2014, the Metropolitan of Khanty-Mansiysk and Surgut held the first service in the restored church, the walls of which have been waiting for such grace for decades.
