Memorial complex "Eternal Glory to the Heroes of the Fatherland"

During the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Victory (May 7, 2005), the memorial complex "Eternal Glory to the Heroes of the Fatherland" was inaugurated in the city. The complex is located in the park area of the city center and is a granite stele 13 meters high with a statue of St. George. The granite and bronze cubes are carved with the names of Nyagan residents who died on the battlefields in various wars, and images of battle scenes. The Eternal Flame is burning at the foot of the monument. There is a park with a recreation area around the complex, benches are installed, flowerbeds are laid out, floor lamp lighting is thought out. 17 enterprises and organizations from Nyagan and other cities of Russia took part in the construction of the memorial. The author, the main artist and sculptor of the project is Andrey Serov from Sverdlovsk. In his work, he used elements of the author's projects of Nyagans, which in 2002 were recognized as the best according to the results of an open competition held in the city for the best monument project. The area on which the complex is located accommodates up to 5 thousand people. In the review competition of the best architectural works of Ugra in 2005, the memorial complex was awarded a silver diploma. On April 23, 2020, on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, restoration work was completed at the memorial complex.
