Theater of the Ob-Ugric peoples "The Sun"

The Sun Theater will be a good starting point for exploring Ugra culture.From the first seasons, the theater was formed from traditional actors – Khanty and Mansi, often with folklore experience. The repertoire of "The Sun" combines productions based on traditional myths, legends and folklore of the Ob-Ugric peoples, as well as modern plays. 

 

The theater actively works to preserve the language, traditions, music and dances of indigenous peoples.At the same time, the creative team actively uses modern stage technologies: multimedia projections, lighting solutions, modern decorations and plastic forms. In the new performances, the culture of Khanty and Mansi is integrated into modern plots.Thanks to this, the Sun stands out among the country's ethnic theaters.: It combines folklore, contemporary theatrical art and topical themes, making indigenous culture accessible to audiences from all over the world.

Khanty-Mansiysk Puppet Theater

The name may be misleading – adults will be no less interested here than children.The theater puts on plastic, musical, visually expressive performances.The chamber hall, thoughtful lighting, unusual forms of doll work – all this creates an atmosphere of intimacy and quiet magic.

The Khanty-Mansiysk Puppet Theater has several stages – Large and Small stages – which allows you to show both large-scale productions and chamber performances for kids. The repertoire includes more than 40 performances by Russian and foreign authors: fairy tales, family stories, visual productions, as well as performances for teenagers and adults.

Baby theater is being developed here, performances are being created at the junction of puppet animation and drama theater, and modern stage technologies and visual techniques are being used. Thanks to this, the theater has become one of the most versatile venues in Ugra: it attracts families with children, teenagers and adults, and serves as a "soft entrance" to the theater for those who are just starting to get acquainted with the genre.

Ugra-Classic Concert and Theater Center

Ugra-Classic is the cultural home of Khanty-Mansiysk, where music, theater and cinema are intertwined. The center opened in 2002 and is designed as a wide–ranging venue, from chamber concerts and performances to major tours and festivals. 

In the spacious halls, with stylish interiors and high-end acoustics, you can hear organ or symphonic music, see ballet or drama, attend a jazz concert or a chamber evening.The center cooperates with professional orchestras, ensembles, theater and dance groups, and makes "high art" accessible to residents and guests of the district.

In addition to concerts and performances, Ugra-Classic is also a platform for events of national and international scale. For example, the Spirit of Fire, an international festival of cinematic debuts, takes place here, which turns Khanty–Mansiysk into the center of attention of film critics, directors, actors and viewers. 

Chamber Drama Theater "23"

This is the first private "family" theater in the city. Unlike the state drama stages, the Theater 23 troupe unites local residents for whom performing arts have become a hobby or vocation. Many actors came here without a professional theater education, but with a great love for the stage. 

The theater specializes in chamber productions. The repertoire includes dramas, comedies, one-man shows, modern plays and theatrical experiments. In the playbill you can find both classics ("Three Sisters", "The House of Bernarda Alba") and modern drama ("The Witch", "Sabuka"), as well as family and children's productions, including festive performances like "New Year for a Micro-Phobic". 

Surgut

Surgut Music and Drama Theatre

It is the largest theater venue in Ugra and one of the main cultural centers of the region.For more than 20 years of its existence, the theater has formed a strong troupe, collaborates with directors from different cities of Russia and actively tours. His performances were shown not only in Moscow – on the stages of the Mayakovsky Theater and the Theater of the Russian Army – but also in London, Saint-Malo, Dresden, Berlin, Cairo. At the same time, the artists performed in the most inaccessible corners of Ugra – in villages that can only be reached by winter ski or helicopter. 

The theater's repertoire combines classics, modern drama, musical and family performances, and the famous production "Personal File No. 1889. Anna Akhmatova has been on the poster for ten years now and has consistently attracted viewers. The Surgut Theater is known not only for its large–scale geography of tours, but also for performances at unusual venues - from a basement room resembling an air raid shelter to the side of a missile cruiser and a religious building.

Surgut Philharmonic Society

The only philharmonic in Ugra is open to audiences with different musical tastes: classical and modern music, Russian folk and instrumental, wind and choral music are played here. 

The institution consists of nine honored ensembles – the Symphony Orchestra, the Surgut Express Band Concert Orchestra of wind instruments, the Svetilen choir chapel, the Bylina Chamber Orchestra of Russian folk instruments, the Perfecto string quartet, the Otrada song ensemble, the Kalinka dance ensemble, the Defile drummer and majorette ensemble.-Band, the ensemble of Russian folk instruments "Casket".

The Philharmonic pays great attention to touring activities, providing its stage to outstanding domestic and foreign musicians and artists. Philharmonic festivals such as "Green Noise" and "60th Parallel" are known far beyond the borders of our district.

Actor's Theater and "Petrushka" Dolls

The creative team of the theater has participated more than 50 times in festivals and competitions of various levels, from urban to international, where it has repeatedly won high titles and prizes. Over the more than 30 years of the theater's existence, more than 200 productions have been created, and more than 1 million people have watched the performances.

The real pride of the theater is a friendly, lively, young acting troupe. They are sincere, creative, fervent, plastic, easy-going professionals, ready for any experiments.

To date, there are 56 performances in the repertoire of the playbill, different in genre and artistic solution: chamber baby performances, family productions and performances for adults. Among them there are both traditional screen productions and performances using the latest multimedia technologies.

Kogalym

Branch of the Maly Theatre of Russia

The appearance in Kogalym of the first and only branch of the internationally renowned Maly Theater outside Moscow has become a unique phenomenon both for Ugra and for the whole country. A small city by the standards of Russia, it has become a home for great art. 

The playbill of the theater often features performances based on the works of Ostrovsky and Chekhov, and productions based on fairy tales are prepared for young audiences. In addition to the main screenings, there are backstage tours, creative workshops, film screenings and meetings with famous artists. Touring bands regularly perform on the stage of the branch: The Khanty-Mansiysk Puppet Theater, the S. V. Obraztsov Puppet Theater, the M. M. Brovun Donetsk Musical Drama Theater and other theaters brought their works to the Kogalym public

The Mirage Theater

It was founded in 1995 under the leadership of director and playwright Elena Erpyleva. The idea was to create an experimental stage for the production of modern plays.In 2015, the theater hall was renovated and reconstructed, which made it possible to expand the format of events: now Mirage hosts not only performances for adults and children, but also concerts, meetings, and social projects. 

By nature, "Mirage" is not a professional "star" theater, but a community of city residents for whom the stage is a space of self–expression and creativity. The repertoire includes modern plays, drama, and productions aimed at diverse audiences, including young people and families

Young Audience Theater

The theater constantly pleases and surprises the audience with premiere performances, theatrical performances, original holiday programs and new projects. Since its foundation, more than one hundred and ten performances have been staged here, aimed at different age categories – from toddlers to adult audiences. Russian Russian classics, Russian fairy tales, works of Russian and world classics, as well as modern dramaturgy are presented in the repertoire. Among the most famous productions are "The Tale of Tsar Saltan", "The Snow Queen", "Teremok", "The Little Bull of Straw", "The Three Little Pigs", "The Nutcracker", "The Princess on the Pea".

City Drama Theater

The City Drama Theater has been operating in Nizhnevartovsk since 1995. It continues to be led by artistic director Natalia Naumova, Honored Worker of Culture of Russia, and chief artist Vyacheslav Zaichikov, Honored Worker of Culture of Ugra. The troupe consists of 18 actors, most of whom are graduates of the Yekaterinburg Theater Institute.

The repertoire is designed for different ages and tastes: there are classical and modern plays, chamber performances and a large "Golden Collection of fairy Tales" for children. The theater actively participates in Russian and international festivals and annually holds its own festival of small forms "Northern Meetings", which gathers groups from all over the country.

Nyagan

Nyagan Young Audience Theater

This is a theater that works with themes important to teenagers and adults: growing up, responsibility, family, friendship, and personal choice. There is a lot of modern drama, lively monologues and stories that are recognizable in their own lives. Notable productions include "The Romanovs" about the internal struggle and fate of the royal family, "A Boy named Sasha" about the formation of talent, "Bazhov's Tales" based on the fairy tales "Ognevushka–Pokakushka", "Sinyushkin Well" and "Stone Flower", as well as a documentary The play "Shostakovich", dedicated to the life and work of composer Dmitry Shostakovich.
